Breen, Heusinger and Corman were all part of the 2009 Off-Broadway world premiere of Next Fall and repeated their work uptown when the play transferred to Broadway in 2010. It received a 2010 Tony Award nomination for Best Play.

Breen (The Normal Heart) plays Adam, opposite Heusinger as his partner Luke. Corman portrays best gal-pal Holly. Smart (“Designing Women”) will take on the role of Luke’s mother, Arlene. The roles of Brandon and Butch have not been announced.

Bart DeLorenzo will stage the production that will run Jan. 19-22 at UCLA’s James Bridges Theater.

Here’s how LATW bills Next Fall: “Two men in love, two parents in denial, and two friends on speed dial. Luke believes in God, while Adam believes in everything else. When an accident changes everything, Adam must turn to Luke’s family and friends for support… and answers.”

Written and directed by Angeliki Giannakopoulos, based on her award-winning documentary of the same name, the reading is co-produced by Katselas Theatre Company in association with Human Revolution Entertainment. The piece is comprised of monologues based on intimate accounts from mothers whose sons have served in Iraq and Afghanistan. Each woman’s story represents very different opinions about war, politics, social and cultural issues

The staged reading is timed to coincide with the 10th Anniversary of 9/11, and will benefit the Fisher House – a unique private-public partnership that supports America’s military in their time of need.

Standing on Ceremony: The Gay Marriage Plays will return to Largo at the Coronet Theatre for a series of Monday night performances, March 28-June 20.

Conceived and directed by Brian Shnipper, this evening of new plays was created to raise money and awareness in support of marriage equality. It includes works by playwrights Jordan Harrison, Jeffrey Hatcher, Moisés Kaufman, Neil LaBute, Wendy MacLeod, Kathy Najimy, José Rivera, Paul Rudnick, and Doug Wright.

The cast for March 28 will include Peri Gilpin, Richard Kind, Wendie Malick, Kathy Najimy and Jean Smart. Full casting for each performance will be announced at later dates.

A portion of the net proceeds will benefit the work of the LA Gay & Lesbian Center to build majority support for same sex marriage both locally in LA and nationally. Recent performances benefitted the American Foundation for Equal Rights (AFER) and Equality California.

To encourage dialogues between audiences, writers, actors and organizations, the production invites the audience to a “wedding reception” with wedding cake and chat immediately after each performance.

Jillian Armenante, Richard Gilliland, Hamish Linklater, Camryn Manheim, Kathy Najimy, Jason Ritter and Jean Smart will perform in Standing on Ceremony: The Gay Marriage Plays at Largo at the Coronet on Monday, December 6 at 8pm.

As previously reported, Bruce Vilanch will host the theatrical launch event to benefit the American Foundation for Equal Rights (AFER) and Equality California.

Standing on Ceremony is comprised of short plays that look at the institution of marriage and relationships, written by Jordan Harrison, Jeffrey Hatcher, Moisés Kaufman, Neil LaBute, Wendy McLeod, Kathy Najimy, José Rivera, Paul Rudnick, and Doug Wright. Conceived and directed by Brian Shnipper, these new provocative plays were created in response to the on-going battle for marriage equality throughout the United States.

At the opening event for the production, Bruce Cohen will provide comments about the first day of the AFER’s case before the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals, and the performance will be followed by a reception that will take place in the courtyard at Largo with a special surprise by Vilanch.

Standing on Ceremony will continue the special limited engagement for five consecutive Mondays beginning January 10, 2011. Plays and casting for the remaining run will be announced at a later date.
